Rosecrest's Libray belongs to ALL of our students. In order for us to keep OUR library functioning in the best possible way so that it can benefit as many of our students as possible, all of our students need to be responsible for their library books. First through sixth graders check out library books every week. Second through sixth grade students are allowed to take their library books home. In order for your child to be responsible and enjoy his/her library privileges to the fullest, you need to be aware of and help your child remember the following library policies:
Library books need come back to school on your child's library day every week so they can be to be returned to the library or renewed.
Your child may have two books checked out at a time. If he/she has two books checked out and only one book is returned, only one book may be checked out.
If your child is not finished reading a book, he/she must still bring it into the library to be renewed.
If your child is absent on library day, it is his/her responsibility to return the library books as soon as possible after returning to school.
If your child does not return a book on time, a five cent overdue fine will be charged for each day the book is overdue and the library is open (no charge for weekends, holidays, etc).
If your child has an overdue book or an unpaid overdue fine, he/she will not be allowed to check out any books until the book is returned and/or the fine is paid.
PLEASE care for the library books properly while they are in your home:
- Have backpacks or school bags to carry the books home to keep them protected weather and from being dropped or lost. - Have a special place to keep library books so they can be found easily on library day. - Keep them safe from markers, crayons, scissors, food, water, juice, etc. - Keep them out of reach of younger siblings and pets. - DO NOT take them onvacations or to the homes of other family members or friends. They are easily lost or left behind!
IF A BOOK IS LOST OR DAMAGED, YOU AND YOUR CHILD ARE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR THE BOOK!
Thank you for helping your child return his/her library books on time and for keeping our books in good condition so that many children can read and enjoy them.
